| 1.1 Emergency Response Guidelines
When operating as a Moto Unit you are on a vehicle that does not have the standard protection that a car would have. Remember, motorcycles offer virtually no protection in the event of a traffic accident. With this in mind you need to make sure you operate with a heightened state of situational awareness at all times.
Our standard issue motorcycle, the BMW npolMM is capable of speeds in excess of 160 MPH. You should make sure that when heading somewhere that you are not going too fast that people will be unable to stop/move over and let you pass. If you move too quickly then the other cars may not hear and/or see you until it is too late. Another thing you should be aware of is when you are on the move sometimes Locals may swerve towards you because they often will try to move out of the way but are delayed.
The Harley is now Also Available But this bike can not go off road at any time also for Request only at the moment so please ask permission if you wish to use it for the time being.
Moto Units should not be active in severe weather (heavy rain/snow) or any conditions that would hinder your visibility or control With the Bike.
Moto Units should not be carrying a rifle or shotgun, As there is nowhere to store/rack it. You may ask a Cruiser unit if you can Rack your C-2 or C-3 in their Weapon Storage in case of Emergency.
Moto Units are not to transport prisoners/suspects on their motorcycles, as it will exceed the maximum weight capacity. Units with patrol cars should be available for transport.
There should always be a max of (2) Moto Units active at any time, excluding authorised trainers/Supervisors.
There should never be an active Moto Unit without an active Patrol Unit (cruiser,etc.). There must be 2 Patrol/Cruiser units for 2 Bikes to be active.
It is expected that you take all necessary measures and motorcycle-specific considerations to ensure the safety of yourself and others while operating as a Moto Unit (no exceptions).
Performing a traffic stop (10-11) as an active Moto Unit is nearly identical when compared to a traffic stop in a traditional police cruiser. However, depending on what bike you are using you might not have an MDT device with you. So when checking plates and names you should call in for an available unit to run them for you.
If you are on a stop that you initiated and the person you pulled over has a reason or a suspicion to be a High Priority Stop. Then you will call for additional units. Once they arrive, you will be able to use one of their vehicles as a shield from the suspect as your bike does not provide adequate protection/cover against projectiles.
When a Moto Unit is in a vehicle pursuit the unit should call it out as normal and continue to trail the suspect until additional Units arrive that can take Primary point. Once additional units arrive and attach to the chase, The Moto Unit will allow for the patrol units to take the primary and lead positions in the chase.
You will then communicate with the other units. Try to run parallel or get ahead or remain on the outskirts of the chase to try to get to a position where you could deploy spike strips or other countermeasures to bring the Chase to an end.
As a bike unit you may REQUEST to pass if the terrain is in your benefit. This must be Communicated to the other units. (Too tight for cruisers/Patrol Vic’s.
The Moto units are equipped with off road tyres meaning we can cover all terrain types. If A Chase goes off road Communicate with other active Patrol/Cruisers that you will be taking Primary.
First off you have to complete our Mbu Course Listed in the Discord on how to and get that set up. Make sure to read all of it since it's very important for you to be able to get out a Bike. After this part there will need to be a second 5 min Chase Clip of any sort you will have to perform The Following : 1 pursuit etiquette, 2 Comms, 3, Paralleling to the Chase. After this you will be finished and fully certed if a supervisor checkmarked your steps.
Any Time going on a Motorcycle you must log your out in the Discord and in game by putting a . in the motorcycle Logs and then removing it when you Park it.
Any Trainee must ask Permission to ride a Bike by any Mbu Supervisor No exceptions ! (this can be done by asking one in city or @mbu supervisor in MBU general.
